All About Exposed Cards

In poker rules an exposed card is something very important. As a poker player, you should know the importance of not showing cards until it is time to do so. This article is solely written for knowing what an exposed card means.

1. A down card that is dealt facing upward and shown to other players and they were able to identify it is an exposed card.

A card that was exposed intentionally by the player however is not an exposed card.

If there is the question of a card that actually "caught some air" was flashed, the player is entitled to get his card replaced, provided that he has not yet seen his other cards. Thus the proper way to have your card replaced is to ask for it before you look at it.

Looking at the card first before asking for replacement will let other player and the dealer think that you don't like the card. Nevertheless, if the card that was already looked-at and to be replaced will have the house decide on whether it will be replaced or not, there are factors that will be considered before doing so.

2. An exposed card can have two options. Either the player will be granted to replace it or that the player will keep his card. This is based on the rules of the poker game you are playing in. The player does not have the liberty to choose to accept or refuse a card.

3. To replace an exposed card there are rules that must be considered. A requirement must be met; the rule of the "Proper Card" should be dealt first. After such considerations a replacement for the exposed card is done in such a manner like the following:

a) The dealer will still continue to give cards to each player their rightful cards.

b) After players have rightfully received their cards now is the proper time to replace the exposed card. The top card will replace the exposed card.

c) After the replacement is made, the dealer will show everybody the exposed card and then the dealer will put the exposed card on the top of the deck, this will be used now as the burn card.

4. If there is more than one exposed card it is considered to be a misdeal.

5. The rules for replacing an exposed card will differ with the different forms of poker games. There are different rules regarding the replacement of an exposed card based on different poker forms. The poker forms: Seven Card Stud, Hold'em and Draw.
